In November, Richard Healey presented a paper “A Tale of Two Symmetries” in
a symposium on “The Janus Face of Symmetry” at the biennial meeting of the
Philosophy of Science Association in Pittsburgh. While in the area, he also
gave a talk on “The Composition of the World” at California University of
Pennsylvania, at the invitation of Ph.D. program alumnus Joel Press.
Richard’s paper “Gauge Symmetry and the Theta-Vacuum” was accepted for
publication in the proceedings of the inaugural meeting of the European
Philosophy of Science Association, held in Madrid in November, 2007.

Mark Timmons will present "Untying a Knot from the Inside Out: Reflections on
the 'Paradox' of Supererogation" that he co-authored with Terry Horgan at the
Brackenridge Philosophy Symposium, University of Texas, San Antonio, Feb. 6-7,
2009. He is also presenting a paper, "Kant on Duties to Oneself as an Animal
Being" at conference on Immanuel Kant's Doctrine of Virtue to be held at the
Munich School of Philosophy, Munich, Germany, Feb. 14 and 15, 2009.
