Topic: The Road to Crony Capitalism.
Location: Maloney Room, SS 224.
We offer arguments that suggest that is at least possible that cronyism is intrinsic to, and not a separable from, capitalism. If real capitalism exists, is it sustainable? Or does capitalism in a democracy always devolve into corporatist cronyism? Furthermore, we argue that successful capitalism may lead to an impulse on the part of economic powers and political agents to restrict and control the potential destructive power of entrepreneurship.
We welcome faculty, students, and staff of the Philosophy and Moral Science Departments as well as members of the wider University community.
