New Accelerated Master of Arts in Philosophy

(AMP in Philosophy)

Beginning May 16, 2011, the Philosophy Department is pleased to offer an exciting new accelerated masters program: the Accelerated Master of Arts in Philosophy (AMP in Philosophy).

The Accelerated Master of Arts in Philosophy Program (AMP in Philosophy) will enable academically talented UA undergraduates to complete the B.A. and M.A. in philosophy after five years of study beginning with the student’s freshman year as an undergraduate.  This program is intended both for students interested in enhancing their qualifications for admission to other graduate programs (such as Ph.D. programs in philosophy or J.D. programs at law schools) as well as for students interested in an additional year of philosophical study but without any plans for future academic work.

Undergraduates majoring in Philosophy are welcomed to apply for admission to AMP in Philosophy.  Students who have declared a major in Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Law (PPEL) are also invited to apply.  For more information, visit our AMP in Philosophy page or contact Program Director Michael Gill (
