Audrey Perryman

Philosophy PhD Student

I'm Audrey, a Ph.D. student at the University of Arizona. I completed my undergraduate degree with an interdisciplinary B.G.S. in Neuroscience, Psychology, Philosophy, and Cognitive Science from the University of Central Florida. While there, I published a thesis on the metaphysics and philosophy of mind described in Spinoza's Ethics as it relates to contemporary theories of panpsychism.

I am interested in the interplay between contemporary, historical, and ancient theories of mind and self, especially as they relate to the metaphysics of consciousness. Furthermore, I am curious about how these areas relate to the philosophy of religion, especially within Vedic traditions and indigenous cultures. I am also interested in how theories of cognitive science, as well as modern practices like neurophenomenology, can better inform our understanding of consciousness and how it is situated within the self.

In my free time, I enjoy gardening, making music, dancing, hiking, practicing Yoga, and caring for my two cats.
