Almagest: Troronto's Undergraduate Philosophy Journal

Almagest is the University of Toronto's History and Philosophy of Science (HPS) Undergraduate Journal. Past issues have included papers on Galenic medicine, philosophy of mathematics, philosophy of ecology, privacy and Big Data, historiography, and causality in quantum mechanics, among others. Almgest continues to feature interviews with prominent academics, such as Freeman Dyson, Ian Hacking, and Peter Galison.

Arché: Boston University’s Student-led Journal of Philosophy

Arché is a student-run journal of philosophical writing. They strive to highlight exceptional student work, providing undergraduates with the opportunity to publish for a general philosophical readership. Arché is published by Boston University’s BookLab in coordination with the Department of Philosophy. The editorial team invites submissions from early-career philosophers and independent scholars in addition to graduate and undergraduate students.

The Duke Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Journal (Sponsored by Duke PPE Certificate Program) is a new publication which is about to start its first year, and they aim to publish original peer-reviewed works of philosophy, politics, and economics from undergraduate and graduate students. Epistemai Undergraduate Journal: Call for Papers

Epistemai, a student-run journal at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, is seeking submissions of original philosophical work from undergraduates for our Spring 2025 edition.

We're looking for excellent undergraduate papers from any philosophical tradition and discipline. Selections will be made based on originality, engagement with the source material, depth of argument, maturity of vocabulary, clarity, conciseness, and accessibility of thoughts and language. We welcome submissions from diverse philosophical backgrounds and on a broad variety of topics.

Epistemai uses a rolling acceptance model for submissions. This means that earlier submissions will receive priority in consideration, with the first formal deadline on January 1st, 2025, and a second and final deadline on February 15th, 2025. Submissions received prior to the first deadline will also be considered for our 2025 undergraduate conference, which will be held in mid-to-late spring. We currently plan to accept around five papers for the conference and no more than eight for publication in total.

Falsafa

The Hemlock Papers

The Hemlock is a student-run undergraduate journal at the University of Idaho. is in search of original philosophical papers authored by current undergraduates. They aim to publish essays that can be read and understood by a general educated audience. Papers must be philosophical in nature and self standing. All submissions will be peer-reviewed in anonymity. Acceptance for publication will be based on the following criteria: creativity, originality, pertinence, quality, and depth. The Hemlock would appreciate that only one paper be submitted per applicant.

LOGOS

Logos is the annual undergraduate philosophy journal at Cornell University. It was founded in 2004 and is student run at the Sage School of Philosophy. Submissions are due January 1 with an anticipated print date in May of each year.

Mudd Undergraduate Journal of Ethics (MUJE)

The Roger Mudd Center for Ethics at Washington and Lee University is pleased to invite undergraduate submissions to the yearly Mudd Undergraduate Journal of Ethics (MUJE), one of the nation’s few undergraduate journal productions focused on ethics. MUJE values diverse topics in ethics that engage interdisciplinary content and readership across all academic curricula in the exploration of human well-being and values. Last year marked an important development in the life of the journal as it transitioned to an exclusively online format.  

The Mudd Undergraduate Journal of Ethics accepts general submissions on any topic in ethics, as well as submissions related to the yearly theme. The 2025-26 theme investigates Environmental Ethics. Submissions may be academic papers or creative works, including poetry, short stories, and visual art. We are looking for work that demonstrates critical thinking, thoughtfulness, and creativity.  

Submissions will undergo an anonymous peer-reviewed process, and authors whose works are selected will have their content published in a peer-reviewed, undergraduate publication!  

Guidelines for Academic Paper Submissions  

- Papers of no more than 3,000 words that make a normative ethical claim, broadly construed.  

- Papers describing a range of ethical topics including legal ethics, environmental ethics, normative theory, historical ethics, technology ethics, and more. 

- Papers addressing an aspect of the yearly theme.  

- Format citations in Chicago Style with endnotes. Papers with other citation formats may be submitted on the understanding that authors will conform them to Chicago Style upon acceptance. 

Guidelines for Creative Submissions 

- Written and visual media addressing a range of ethical topics. This creative expression may overtly raise questions or subtly illustrate tensions highlighting ethical concerns, communal values, individual responsibility, and the like. 

- Short stories or creative writing pieces: roughly 2,000 - 3,500 words 

- Poetry: no more than three poems/author 

- Visual art 

o We will accept .jpeg files with a 300 DPI resolution. Your work must be 1100 pixels wide (min.), height flexible.  

o Please include a brief artist statement of no more than 300 words. 

o If you choose to include a caption for your work, please do not exceed 150 words.  

Notification of acceptance to the journal will be made via email in February 2026.

Stance

Stance: An International Undergraduate Philosophy Journal has received, among others, the APA award for Excellence and Innovation. They have worked with students from over thirty-five nations. Stance publishes only essays that make an original contribution to the field. All papers are anonymously reviewed by multiple reviewers and all authors receive constructive feedback on their work. Stance is published annually in April. The deadline for submissions is in mid-December.

UChicago Philosophy Review

Call for papers!!

The University of Chicago Philosophy Review desires your philosophical articles on desire. 

What does it mean to desire another? Do we all desire to be good? Can you ever sate your desires? From Plato’s ladder of love to Spinoza’s conatus to Deleuze’s desiring-production, desire has been a recurring theme in the philosophical tradition.

Submit anything on topics including, but not limited to, morality, metaphysics, and sexuality by February 14th, 2026 to be published in our upcoming print journal edition. Articles should be fewer than 6,000 words, contain rigorous philosophical analysis pertaining to the theme, and should be in Chicago Style. 

Submissions will be subject to a blind peer review process. The Review will notify authors of its decisions by March 1st, 2026.
